Instagram Bio.. What They Should Consist Of And Why They Are Important.
Since my years of being on Instagram, I have seen a lot of bad bios on business profiles,
Some that barely say anything and even worse some that say the wrong things.
Although yes, a website link and business category are necessary, your bio is prime real estate for engaging your profiles visitor to look further into what your business is all about.
As a potential customer or client, I want to know how your business can help ME.
Your audience is not going to be interested in giving you their hard earned money and purchasing a product or service just because you share the same hobbies and interests. Don’t get me wrong, It’s great to be relatable, but you can do so on the actual posts and overall copywriting included on your content, rather than on your bio.
When writing your bio, you need to use the 150 very carefully and provide value to whoever is reading it. You need to tell why looking through your feed, following/subscribing to an email list and even purchasing a product, won’t be a waste of time and or money for the person reading it.
It has to be short and on point. Your bio should tell me who you are and what your business does for me, and what you want me to do next.
Call to action (CTA) is very important. Your bio needs to have intention to serve a greater purpose for your business. This means you have to guide your profile visitor to what they should do next.
In order to have a successful bio that can potentially monetize your Instagram and grow your business,
You first need to decide what you want to do and what your goal for the business is.
This, of course, can be updated as long as it is done strategically.
Do you want to build brand awareness? Grow your email list? Sell a product or service? Highlight a blog post or a video? etc..
Once you’ve decided what your goal is, you can point your followers into that direction by adding a specific call to action on your bio.
For example, If your goal is to increase your subscribers and grow your email database, you might decide to offer 20% discount code to all new subscribers, which will also generate sales and get you a new customer.
In this case, your bio may look like this:
(Who you are/name of business)
(What you do for me)
Click the Link below to get 20% off your first order (Call to action with incentive)
Link to subscribe (link to sign up page which will give your business their email and will give people discount code to become a customer)
It is pretty simple once it is broken down. So, although sometimes we ignore our bios, it is something we should not take for granted. Take the time to write a clear bio that will get your intention across to anyone that sees it.
